An off-track door is a system-alignment failure, not simply a roller that needs to be pushed back into place. Doorcraft identifies why the roller left its path, corrects the cause, and tests the complete door before it returns to service.
A roller can leave the track after vehicle impact, a bent or loose track, a seized roller, damaged hinge, or loss of cable tension. When a cable slips or winds unevenly around a drum, one side of the door can rise while the other stays low. That twists the sections and can pull additional rollers out.
Warning signs include a crooked bottom edge, a loose cable, rubbing instead of rolling, a widening gap between track and rollers, or a door that binds after moving only a few inches. Stop the opener and leave the door where it is. Repeated operation can bend the track, damage sections, or overload the opener.
Doorcraft checks more than whether the track looks straight. Diagnosis includes cable seating at the drums, track spacing, level and plumb, mounting brackets, roller travel, hinges, and the condition of the door sections. This distinguishes a track-alignment problem from cable, roller, hinge, or impact damage that would cause the door to leave the track again.
The repair may involve safely supporting and repositioning the door, restoring cable alignment, replacing damaged rollers or hardware, and adjusting track position. A bent track is evaluated at the damaged area; simply bending metal until a roller fits does not correct spacing or alignment.
After the door is repositioned, we move it through its full path and watch both sides of the system. Rollers should remain seated without rubbing, cables should track evenly on the drums, and the door should not rack or bind. Track fasteners and brackets must hold their alignment through repeated movement.
The opener is tested only after the door moves correctly by hand. This prevents the motor from hiding a heavy, twisted, or binding door and confirms that the original cause—not only the visible symptom—has been addressed.
Keep people and vehicles clear of a hanging or crooked door, and do not pull the emergency release while the door is unsupported.
